An Unlicenced Use

Some patients delight in telling you their life story, usually when you’ve got a pile of prescriptions waiting to be checked and you’re wishing they’d get to the point. Others supply you with too much information. Things you really don’t want to know! Then there’s the opposite – the patient who leaves you dangling in mid-air!

A rather elderly lady approached the chemist counter requesting a tube of KY jelly. Knowing that ladies can use this product in a rather intimate way, we naturally try to be discreet when selling it. Not this lady! She insisted on explaining why she needed it. “It’s for my husband’s hearing aid!” Of all the possible uses for KY, this one had escaped us. Seeing the puzzled looks on all our faces, she continued. “It’s the only thing that stops it whistling!”

With that, she turned and strolled out of the pharmacy leaving us with several unanswered questions. How had they stumbled upon this use of KY?  What on Earth were they doing at the time? Where was he wearing his hearing aid? Where did they put it? (KY or the hearing aid!)

Perhaps someone from Johnson & Johnson could let me know if they are aware of this unlicenced use of one of their products.
